Singer + songwriter Adele Adkins was born on May 5, 1988, in Enfield, North London ENGLAND. As she was growing up, she became interested in a wide variety of music, singing Destiny's Child songs at school, then going through a Heavy-Metal phase, wearing Slipknot t-shirts and studded dog collars. She later became interested in the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. Better known as Adele in the music business, her smoky, soulful voice and lovelorn lyrics have earned comparisons to Amy Winehouse and Duffy.
After she graduated from the school in 2006, soon published a couple of her songs online. Adele came to the attention of XL Recordings who released her first album, "19", in January of 2008. It debuted at #1 on the U.K. Albums chart and nearly one year later peaked at #10 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200.
"21" was the second album from the talented British singer + songwriter and like her debut CD, the second record was named after the age Adele was when she wrote the album. Released in January 2011, "21" was a worldwide instant success going straight to #1 in Great Britain, Canada and on The Billboard 200 highlighted by the single "Rolling In The Deep" which hit the top 3 in U.K. and the top 40 of the U.S. Alternative Rock chart.
