Bullet For My Valentine Biography
The Alternative-Metal band Bullet For My Valentine were formed from the ashes of an earlier group called Jeff Killed John, after their original bassist decided to quit; the new band, which consists of vocalist + guitarist Matthew Tuck, guitarist Michael Padget, bass player Jason James and drummer Michael Thomas, began in 2003 in Bridgend, WALES.
They played a London showcase a year later, which piqued the interest of a few major labels and in October 2004 the band put their mark on a five album deal with Sony, with a U.K. licensing deal with Visible Noise, home to Lostprophets; the next month Bullet For My Valentine released their debut disc, a self-titled 5-song CD.
The Welsh modern-metallers' full-length debut album, "The Poison", which has sold over a million copies worldwide, arrived in October 2005 in Europe and was issued on Trustkill early the following year in the U.S. where the CD crawled into The Billboard 200 chart at #128, backed by the transatlantic hit "Tears Don't Fall" which peaked at #24 on The Hot Mainstream Rock chart, reached the #32 position on The Hot Modern Rock Tracks and pierced the official U.K. Top 40 Singles chart. The album also spawned the British top 30 hit single "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)".
In January 2008, Bullet For My Valentine released its sophomore effort, "Scream Aim Fire", whose title-track quickly catapulted into the top 20 of the U.S. Active Rock airplay chart and hit #26 on The Hot Modern Rock Tracks. The album itself crashed into the top 5 in the United States, Australia and in several European countries while the band supported the release with a succession of tours alongside Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Lacuna Coil, Black Tide and others. The second single, "Hearts Burst Into Fire", peaked at #22 on The Hot Mainstream Rock chart and was followed by another Active Rock top 40 hit, "Waking The Demon".
The eagerly anticipated third album from the band, "Fever", arrived in April 2010. The record had an extremely strong debut at #3 on The Billboard 200, #4 on the Top Canadian Albums chart and #5 in U.K. and Australia. Its main single, "Your Betrayal", hit #18 on Billboard's Rock Songs chart and "The Last Fight" was chosen as single in the U.K. where it only scraped the bottom of the Official Top 100 chart. Two more U.S. Active Rock top 30 singles followed: "Bittersweet Memories" and the CD's title-track.
February 2013 saw Bullet For My Valentine release their next album, "Temper Temper", a new Metal classic that's simultaneously heavy and hypnotic. The disc went to #13 The Billboard 200 and #9 on the Top Canadian Albums charts highlighted by two powerful Rock radio singles: the title-track and "Riot", the latter of which peaked at #23 on the U.S. Active Rock chart.
