CKY Biography

This Alternative-Rock band was formed in West Chester, Pennsylvania USA, in 1998 around the core of singer + guitarist Deron Miller and drummer Jess Margera, the two had already played together in the Metal band Foreign Objects; that year they met up with guitarist Chad I Ginsburg and started recording as Camp Kill Yourself, later shortened to CKY, the result was an album titled "Volume 1"; lastly bass player Ryan Bruni was thrown in to complete the live line-up.

The group became popular in skate circles when their music provided the soundtrack for two skateboarding videos starring Margera's brother, Bam; they landed slots on the 1999 and 2000 Vans Warped Tour as well as a recording contract with Def Jam/Island; meanwhile Bruni was fired and replaced with bassist Vern Zaborowski.
Having already sold 40,000 units on word-of-mouth with little promotion, Island Records opted to reissue CKY's first album in the summer of 2001.

September 2002 saw the group release their second album, "Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild", which reached the #99 position on The Billboard Top 200 chart spawning the Active Rock top 40 hit "Flesh Into Gear". Two years later Zaborowski was removed from the band and replaced with ex-All That Remains bass player Matt Deis.

CKY resurfaced in mid-2005 with "An Answer Can Be Found", this album eventually enjoyed a 6-week chart run on The Billboard 200 peaking at #35 and produced the excellent single "Familiar Realm" which crested at the #32 spot on The Mainstream Rock chart.
As the band entered 2006, things finally came to a head between the group and Island Records; both parties decided it was in the best interests to part ways and end the relationship.

Literally years in the making, the Pennsylvania-rockers' fourth album, "Carver City", arrived in May 2009 through Roadrunner Records; it reached #46 on The Billboard 200, but its main single "Hellions On Parade" failed to achieve significant chart success.
Deis left the band the following year due to what the group labelled as commitment issues. He was replaced by Matt Janaitis on bass.

In October 2010 CKY released a digital single for their track titled "Afterworld", featured on the soundtrack to the film "Jackass 3D".
