The Damned Things Biography
With members of Anthrax, Every
Time I Die and Fall Out Boy, The
Damned Things are undoubtedly a musical force to be reckoned with.
In 2008, alumni of their own pre-Fall Out Boy Metal groups, guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley began collaborating with Anthrax's guitarist Scott Ian and eventually, his bandmate, guitarist Rob Caggiano. The final piece of the puzzle was getting Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley on board.
With Trohman and Caggiano handling the production duties, the group began writing and recording songs mostly in Brooklyn, New York USA. The template began to take shape, combining those elements of Classic-Rock with the heavier aspects of Anthrax and Every Time I Die and the hook-laden choruses of Fall Out Boy.
The quintet, plus Every Time I Die's
bassist Josh Newton, made their live debut in June 2010 at the Knitting
Factory in Brooklyn.
The Damned Things issued their eagerly anticipated debut album, "Ironiclast", in the December 2010, via Island Records. The disc's first single pick, "We've Got A Situation Here", climbed to #25 on the Active Rock chart while the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard's Top Heatseekers list.
