Fun. was formed in New York City, New York USA, by lead singer Nate Ruess who teamed-up in 2008 with multi-instrumentalist Andrew Dost, after the dissolution of their previous outfits; another key member in the band's line-up is guitarist + vocalist Jack Antonoff.
The trio soon developed an Alternative style of music, a contemporary rethinking of classic '70s Pop, where ornate arrangements and inspired orchestrations meet present-day Rock.
In late August 2009, Fun. released its debut album, "Aim And Ignite", on Nettwerk Records; just a few days later the disc debuted at #71 on The Billboard 200, but fell off of the chart the following week.
Fun. returned to scene in February 2012 with "Some Nights", their second album hit #3 in U.S. and #5 in Canada headlined by the worldwide smash single "We Are Young", which opened atop The Billboard Hot 100, the Top Canadian Singles list and the Australian chart; it was also a top 3 hit on the U.S. Altenative Songs chart and top 10 in several European countries.
