Kasabian Biography

The Alternative-Rock band Kasabian was formed in Leicester, ENGLAND, in 1999 by vocalist Tom Meighan and rhythm guitarist + keyboardist Sergio Pizzorno; they soon developed their own unique style, a mixture of Electronica, Pop and Modern Rock, then recruited guitarist Christopher Karloff and bassist Chris Edwards to fill out the line-up.

The band broke into the U.K. Singles Top 40 chart for the first time in May 2004 with "Club Foot"; the follow-up single, "L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)", peaked at #10 when their self-titled debut album was released in September; the full-length CD, which included all the single releases to date, peaked at #4 on the Official Pop Albums chart producing two more top 20 hits in "Processed Beats" and "Cutt Off". In America both their first two singles charted inside The Modern Rock Tracks and helped push the album to #94 on The Billboard 200 chart.
During 2005, Ian Matthews joined the group as full time drummer.

Kasabian returned in early September 2006 with their sophomore album, "Empire"; a few weeks before its release, it was announced that Chris Karloff was asked to leave the band; the disc debuted at #1 on the British chart and reached a modest #155 on The Billboard 200. The title-track was the first single off the CD, a well-deserved top 10 hit in their native England; this was followed in the fall by the U.K. top 20 hit "Shoot The Runner".

The band's third offering, "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum", arrived in June 2009 reaching #1 in U.K. and making a mid-chart appearance in U.S. with a peak of #126. "Fire", the first single off the CD, shot to #3 on the British Sales chart and was followed by the top 40 hit "Underdog".

Kasabian's fourth album "Velociraptor!" went straight in at the top spot on the Official British chart upon its September 2011 release; the CD was Pizzorno and co's third consecutive #1 album. The set was preceded by the video for their experimental blip bleep jam "Switchblade Smiles" and included the U.K. top 40 hit single "Days Are Forgotten".

Latest News:
