While the Alternative-Rock act Kongos is based in Phoenix, Arizona USA, the band, which is made up of four brothers, grew up in South Africa and London. Lead singer + bassist Dylan Kongos, guitarist Daniel Kongos, accordionist + keyboardist Johnny Kongos and drummer Jesse Kongos, made their recording debut in 2004 with a self-titled EP.
Having emerged from their basement studio after two and a half years of woodshedding, they decided to self-released their first full-length disc, a self-titled CD, which was unleashed in August 2007.
In mid-2012 Tokoloshe Records, the independent label founded by Kongos and their father John Kongos who had two U.K. top 10 hits in the early '70s, released the quartet's second album, "Lunatic". The single "Come With Me Now" would sneak its way into the U.S. Alternative radio top 40 chart in early 2014.
