This Alternative-Rock band was formed in Chicago, Illinois USA, by lead singer Marty Casey, guitarist Billy Sawilchik, bassist Dino Kourelis and drummer Bobby Kourelis. Casey and the Kourelis brothers have known each other since they were kids playing t-ball in the Windy City suburb of Hickory Hills; they started playing together in junior high and went through a number of guitarists over the years; the band line-up was solidified with the addition of Sawilchuk in 2002.
In the summer of 2003 Lovehammers self-released their debut CD, "Murder
On My Mind", which hit #22 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums
chart and sold more than 25,000 copies without a label or distributor.
They subsequently amassed a few million new fans thanks to Casey's remarkable run on the reality show "Rock Star: INXS". Over the course of the hit series, Casey's intense and infectious performances made him a fan favorite and his hook-laden single, "Trees", became a smash in the competition. That amplifies a resume that includes gigs opening for such diverse artists as Nickelback, Interpol and Puddle Of Mudd.
Marty Casey and his band eventually went on tour opening for INXS and in early 2006 also released a new album titled "Marty Casey & Lovehammers" through Epic/Burnett Records, it features a new amped-up version of "Trees" which was chosen for release as a single.
