Said The Whale Biography
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, the Alternative-Rock outfit Said The Whale formed in early 2007 originating from an idea of two guitarists + singers & songwriters: Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft. They completed the band with keyboard player Jaycelyn Brown, bassist Jeff LaForge and drummer Spencer Schoening.
Following some early EPs, Said The Whale released the debut full-length disc, "Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia", in June 2008 via indie Rock label Hidden Pony.
In October 2009 the Canadian five-piece put out their second album, "Islands Disappear", which helped to fuel a nationwide success, winning a Juno Award in the process.
Released in March 2012, "Little Mountain", saw the band exploring previously untouched Rock sounds, while maintaining their knack for effervescent Pop hooks. This album, their first recorded with new bass player Nathan Shaw, hit #17 on the Top Canadian Albums chart.
Using a lower-case “h” and ending in a trifecta of “i”s, Said The Whale have set "hawaiii" as the title of their fourth album, due on September 17, 2013. The first single, "I Love You", has already hit the top 10 of the Canadian Alternative chart and has begin to blaze up the charts on the U.S. Modern Rock radio.
