The Whigs Biography
This three-piece Alternative-Rock band was formed in Athens, Georgia USA, with Parker Gispert on vocals + guitar, Hank Sullivant on bass and Julian Dorio on drums.
In the summer of 2005 with zero dollars in their pocket, the band bought
recording equipment on eBay, recorded on it for a couple months, then
sold the equipment back on eBay for a small profit. The result was the
primal "Give 'Em All A Big Fat Lip" which was self-released
by The Whigs in November 2005 and later re-released by ATO Records in
The Athens trio spent most of 2006 and 2007 on the road touring with artists like The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and The Futureheads.
"Mission Control", the band's second effort, was an album jam-packed with infectious melodies and dynamic rhythms; released in January 2008, it reached the #36 position on the Top Independent Albums chart and its lead single, "Right Hand On My Heart", climbed into the top 40 of The Hot Modern Rock chart.
In March 2010 The Whigs unleashed its third album, "In The Dark", their first to feature new bass player Timothy Deaux. The set, which contained the single "Kill Me Carolyne", debuted at #39 on the U.S. Independent Albums chart.
Two and a half years later, the trio delivered a new offering, a more Pop-oriented album titled "Enjoy The Company".
The Whigs will return on April 22, 2014, with their fifth album, "Modern Creation". Recorded at PLYRZ Studios in Valencia, California and completed over the course of just two weeks, the forthcoming full-length spans a total of 10 tracks including the lead single: "Hit Me".
