Youngblood Hawke Biography
Inspired by the 1961 Herman Wouk novel of the same name, the Alternative-Pop outfit Youngblood Hawke was started in Los Angeles, California USA, by vocalist + keyboardist Sam Martin and guitarist Simon Katz. Exhausted by two years of touring with their former band and the general turbulence that comes with music industry success, the two looked for a more simple creative outlet where they could make music together without commercial pressures.
Katz's longtime friend guitarist Tasso Smith moved to L.A. from Texas to join the band when he heard the first demos and Katz's wife, vocalist + percussionist Alice Katz, who was a key part of the original songwriting sessions, joined as well. To round out the line-up they recruited drummer Nik Hughes.
In August 2012 Youngblood Hawke released their debut disc, a self-titled 4-song EP which included the Alternative Songs top 10 hit "We Come Running".
The band's first full-length record, "Wake Up", followed in the spring of the next year reaching #58 on The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
