DECEMBER

 

John Waite has announced January 21, 2011, as the release date for his upcoming album "Rough & Tumble", via Frontiers Records.

 

Saliva will release their new album, "Skin Deep", on March 22, 2011; the disc will be led by the first single, "Nothing".

 

Seether have tentatively titled their new record "Holding On To Strings Better Left To Fray". A release is planned for May 2011 with a new singe due at radio in March.

 

Egypt Central have completed work on their new album, "White Rabbit". A release is planned for early May with the first single due at radio in February.

 

Death Cab For Cutie have titled their upcoming studio album "Codes And Keys" and the record is set for release sometime in the Spring of 2011.

 

Cold will be releasing their as-yet-untitled new record on June 28, 2011. The first single, "American Dream", will be released to radio in March.

 

Red have set February 1, 2011, as the release date for their third record, "Until We Have Faces".

 

Bright Eyes will release a new album, "The People's Key", on February 15, 2011. It is Conor Oberst & co.'s first release since 2007's "Cassadega".

 

 

NOVEMBER

 

System Of A Down have announced an end to their hiatus, as the Rock band will reunite in 2011 for at least a short European tour. In a statement, the band said they currently “have no master plan of sorts”. SOAD's upcoming tour will kick off in Milan on June 2 and travel to Germany, France, Switzerland, the U.K., Austria, Sweden and Finland.

 

PJ Harvey's eighth studio album, "Let England Shake", is set to be released on February 14, 2011, through Island Records.

Blink-182 comeback album should be out in April or May of 2011, according to founding member and bass guitarist Mark Hoppus.

 

Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump announced on Twitter that his long-in-the-works solo debut will be titled "Soul Punk"; a February 2011 release is expected.

 

Ben Harper is getting ready to release a sophomore album with his Austin, TX power trio, Relentless7. The album, dubbed "Give It Til It's Gone", has a tentative release date of March 2011.

 

Cavalera Conspiracy will release their new album, "Blunt Force Trauma", in March 2011.

 

Skindred has set "Union Black" as the title of its new CD, due on May 2, 2011. Wales' celebrated ragga rockers' fourth album is currently being recorded at Britannia Row Studios in London.

 

Dave Navarro says Jane's Addiction is still towards a new album. In a recent interview, the guitarist said, “We're actually writing quite a bit and getting ready to go into the studio. We will start recording tracks and hopefully have something by early next year”.

 

Fair To Midland have signed a new record deal with E1 Music. The Texas alt-Metal group will begin work on a new album with producer Joe Barresi shortly, with a release expected in the spring.

 

Ryan Adams has announced a new album with his band The Cardinals, "III/IV". It is Adams' first proper release since taking a hiatus from music-making. "III/IV" was recorded circa 2007 and will be out on Adams' own PAX•AM Records.

 

Beck is asking fans to vote on their favorite covers from his ongoing Record Club project, where he collaborated with a wide variety of artists to cover albums in their entirety. The tracks with the most votes will be compiled on a proper album release. You can vote at www.beckvoting.com

 

Marilyn Manson will have a new album out in 2011, according to guitarist Twiggy Ramirez. He added in a recent interview that the new album is “almost done”. Ramirez is not a part of the reunited A Perfect Circle line-up, but said he will probably join them onstage for a song or two when they play Los Angeles.

 

AM Conspiracy have parted ways with their label, Burnhill Union Records. The band is currently in pre-production for their sophomore album.

 

Shirley Manson revealed that Garbage is working on a new album and plan to return to action in 2011.

 

 

OCTOBER

 

Cage The Elephant have changed the title of their upcoming new album to "Thank You, Happy Birthday". The disc is due out on January 11 and contains 13 brand new song including first single "Shake Me Down".

 

Foo Fighters' upcoming album, due out next year, will include 14 songs and “there's not one acoustic guitar”, according with frontman Dave Grohl who also confirmed that Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic makes a cameo on the new record, which is produced by Butch Vig.

 

The Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith tells Billboard that the Peppers are about “halfway through” the recording of their next album. Smith also said that he plans to record with supergroup Chickenfoot in January.

 

The Cars will reunite for their first album in 23 years, according to Billboard. The four surviving members -- Benjamin Orr passed away from cancer in 2000 -- reportedly recorded new material this summer and there are rumblings of a potential reunion tour as well.

 

The Beastie Boys have announced that they will have a new album out next spring, but oddly it is not the long-delayed "Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1". In a recent statement released by the band, it appears that "Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1" “will continued to be delayed indefinitely”, but its sequel, "Hot Sauce Committee Pt 2" “will be released on time as originally planned in Spring 2011”.

 

R.E.M. manager Bertis Downs revealed to Billboard.biz that the band's upcoming 2011 album will be titled "Collapse Into Now"; the disc is expected out in the springtime.

 

Cold War Kids will release a new album, "Mine Is Yours", on January 25 via Downtown Records.

 

Even though Weezer just released the new album "Hurley", the band is already set to offer even more new tunes with "Death To False Metal", due on November 2.

 

My Morning Jacket is “a third of the way through” recording their sixth studio album. Bassist Tom Blankenship told Spin.com that the record is returning MMJ to their “laid back” roots and the band is producing it themselves.

 

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis will release a Country-based five-track EP in the spring of 2011. Both a Rock version as well as a Country version of the first single, "Country Boy", were recorded with the Country version set to debut in late November.
Staind will begin recording their seventh studio album in December with plans for a summer 2011 release.

 

Rev Theory will release their upcoming album "Justice" in early 2011; the album's title-song is set to impact at radio in November.

 

Crossfade's new album "We All Bleed" has been delayed yet again and is now due out in April 2011.

 

Lynam have set November 30 as the release date for their new record, "Thank You Good Night". The disc will be the band's final album, however frontman Jacob Lynam says the band isn't breaking up, but will be focusing on other projects outside of Lynam.

 

TRUST company have signed with E1 Music for the release of their new record, "Dreaming In Black And White"; the album is scheduled for a February 2011 release.

 

Ill Niño will release its new album album, "Dead New World" on October 26.

 

Cage The Elephant will be releasing their new album, "Computer Says Move" on January 11, 2011.

 

 

SEPTEMBER

 

Crossfade have delayed the release of their new record, "We All Bleed". Originally due out on October 26 the release is now expected to arrive in stores in January 2011.

 

Red will have titled their third studio album "Until We Have Faces". A release is expected in early 2011.

 

Art Of Dying has a new album on the way, the disc will be titled "Vices And Virtues" and is due out early next year. It includes their new single "Die Trying".

 

My Chemical Romance will release their new album, "Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys", on November 22.

 

Nickelback intends to take a short breather before diving into a new album. Frontman Chad Kroeger already has a few new songs in the can and he'd like to get back in the studio this spring, but he may face some resistance from his bandmates.

 

Egypt Central will be in the studio with producer Skidd Mills next month, recording the follow-up to their 2008 self-titled album.

 

R.E.M. has completed recording their 15th studio album, due out in the spring of 2011 on Warner Bros. Records. According to a statement from the label, the band has been recording in New Orleans at the Music Shed and in Berlin at the famed Hansa Studios.

 

Pop Evil's sophomore album "War Of Angels", will be available this winter through Universal Republic.

 

A Day To Remember will release a new album, "What Separates Me From You", on November 16 via Victory Records.

 

No Doubt is still in the writing phase of its sixth studio album, but bassist Tony Kanal promises the band will tour again. Kanal told Billboard.com that his group will “absolutely” hit the road for a follow-up to their successful reunion trek last year.

 

Fiona Apple has a new album on the way, the follow-up to 2005's "Extraordinary Machine" is expected to arrive on store shelves in spring 2011.

 

ZZ Top will return to the studio to record a new album with producer Rick Rubin, which will be their first effort since 2003.

 

Duffy will release "Endlessly", the follow-up to her hit debut "Rockferry", on November 29 in the U.K. An official U.S. release date has not been confirmed. The lead single will be "Well, Well, Well".

 

Fountains Of Wayne plan to release a new studio album early next year, but singer Chris Collingwood said in a new interview online that the band is currently without a label and unsure exactly when and how the record will come out.

 

Oleander are planning to work on their first album since 2003's "Joyride". The Sacramento outfit's as-yet-untitled new record will be out in spring 2011.

 

Sister Hazel will release their new album, "Heartland Highway", on October 12.

 

Coldplay is still hard at work on their next studio album; the band has confirmed that a follow-up to its platinum 2008 disc "Viva La Vida" won't see the light of day in 2010.

 

Dream Theater drummer and founder Mike Portnoy has decided to exit the group after 25 years. He is currently filling in with Avenged Sevenfold and realized he needed a longer break from Dream Theater.

 

Rob Halford will release a new solo record, "Halford IV: Made Of Metal", on September 28.

 

Adelitas Way will be headed into the studio on September 20 to record their second major label release on Virgin Records.

 

Escape the Fate have set November 2 as the release date for their self-titled major label debut.

 

Underoath's upcoming album has been delayed and is now due out on November 9. The disc will be titled "Disambiguation".

 

 

AUGUST

 

Crossfade's new album, "We All Bleed" has been delayed and is now due out on October 26.

 

Queensryche has signed a multi-album deal with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records. The band's label debut, their twelfth studio album overall, is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2011 release.

 

Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz has teamed with the band's former frontman Jesse Leach to form a new band, Times Of Grace. The band's debut album, "The Hymn Of A Broken Man", is set to hit stores on November 9.

 

Elvis Costello will release a new album, "National Ransom", on October 25. The record was produced by T Bone Burnett and includes contributions from members of both of Costello's backing bands, The Imposters and The Sugarcanes.

 

3 Doors Down have entered the studio to begin recording their fifth studio effort. A release date for the album has not yet been set.

 

All That Remains have set October 12 as the release date for their new record, "For We Are Many".

 

Alter Bridge have titled their third album "AB III". They hope to release the record in early October.

 

Van Halen is currently in the studio recording an album with David Lee Roth that is due for release in 2011.

 

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James told Rolling Stone that the band is currently recording the follow-up to 2008's "Evil Urges" in their hometown of Louisville. James added that “It'll probably be out mid-next year, probably May”.

 

Weezer will release their eighth studio album, "Hurley", on September 14 on their new label, Epitaph Records.

 

Kings Of Leon have titled their upcoming fifth album "Come Around Sundown" and set an October 19 release date.

 

Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida will release his second full-length solo album, "Bury Me With A Gun", on August 24 exclusively on iTunes.

 

Underoath have set October 26 as the release date for their yet-to-be-titled new album.

 

Yellowcard have announced they have reunited. The band has signed a new record deal with Hopeless Records for the release of their first studio album in more than two years.

 

Trapt's new album, "No Apologies", has been delayed and will now see an October 12 release.

 

 

JULY

 

A previously unreleased Soundgarden song, titled "Black Rain", will appear in the upcoming Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock game. It is rumored that the track will also appear on a new Soundgarden best-of CD/DVD set, expected out September 28.

 

Iggy Pop tells Rolling Stone that a re-issue of his solo record "Kill City" is due October 19 and that the remaining The Stooges are considering a new album as well.

 

Godsmack frontman Sully Erna has decided to strike out on his own like Aaron Lewis and release a solo record. It comes out September 14 and is titled "Avalon".

 

Seal will release his sixth studio album, "Seal 6: Commitment", on September 28 via Reprise Records. The lead single is titled "Secret".

 

Good Charlotte has signed a deal with Capitol Records and will release their long-delayed new album, "Cardiology", on October 26. The band have tapped "Like It's Her Birthday" as the lead single from the record.

 

Foo Fighters will begin work on a new album with producer Butch Vig in September. No word on a possible release date.

 

Guster have titled their new album "Easy Wonderful". The record is due out on October 5 via Aware/Universal Republic.

 

Mushroomhead will unleash a new album, "Beautiful Stories For Ugly Children", on September 28. The first single will be called "Come On".

 

Alter Bridge are alleged to have signed with Roadrunner Records for the release of their third studio record. The as-yet-untitled album is scheduled for a September release.

 

Weezer could have a new album out in September. Rivers Cuomo tells the News Times in Connecticut that the band is about to sign with a new independent label, after fulfilling their contract with Geffen. An as-yet-untitled new record is tentatively slated for a September 13 release.

 

Jimmy Eat World have announced via Twitter that their new album is titled "Invented" and will be released September 28.

 

O.A.R. has released some information about their upcoming seventh studio album. The record will hit stores sometime in early 2011 and Marc Roberge said that it will be a little more like the Maryland rockers' earlier recordings.

 

R.E.M. have announced that the band wrapped up the recording of their next album in Berlin. The band will return to the new material in the fall to mix and finish off the album, with a Spring 2011 release date in mind.

 

Linkin Park will release their new album, "A Thousand Suns", on September 14. The first single is due on August 2 and is titled "The Catalyst".

 

Ill Niño have announced that their new album and first with Victory Records, will be titled "Dead New World" and the band now plan on a fall release.

 

Trapt will release its fourth studio album, "No Apologies", on September 14. The first single will be called "Sound Off".

 

Staind are planning to begin work on a new album in November. Frontman Aaron Lewis is set to release his first solo album later this year.

 

The Ting Tings say that they have finished recording the follow-up to their breakthrough, debut LP, "We Started Nothing". Singer Katie White tells the BBC they wrote and recorded the as-yet-untitled new album in Berlin over the winter.

 

 

JUNE

 

TRUST company have announced the addition of new bassist Chris Harvey; the band is currently working on their new album which is due out in October.

 

All That Remains have titled their new album "For We Are Many"; a September release is expected.

 

Strata are currently putting the finishing touches on their new album which should be out later this summer.

 

Kenny Wayne Shepherd have signed a worldwide, multi-album deal with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records; he is currently working on two releases for the label: his first live record and a new studio album.

 

Anberlin will released their fifth studio album, "Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place", on September 21 via Universal Republic.

 

Blink-182 who were originally thought to be hitting the studio sometime in June to begin work on their next album will now be heading in sometime this fall.

 

Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders will release "Fidelity!", the debut album from her new project, JP Chrissie & The Fairground Boys, on August 24.

 

Toadies will release their “lost” album "Feeler" this summer. The record was intended to be the follow-up to their breakthrough "Rubberneck", but was shelved by their label at the time.

 

Stereoside have announced that "Trailer Park Scum" will be the first single from their as-yet-untitled forthcoming new record.

 

Serj Tankian has chosen "Left Of Center" to serve as the lead single from his upcoming new album "Imperfect Harmonies".

 

Day Of Fire have announced that they are going on “indefinite hiatus”. The group's last album "Losing All" came out on January 26 of this year.

 

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan revealed that new material from both bands are in the works, but nowhere near a point where potential release dates could be guessed.

 

Revis first album in more than six years, "Fire And Ice", will be released on July 27. The band hope to have their third release, "Gone So Long", released early 2011.

 

Pete Yorn will release a new, self-titled album on September 28 via Vagrant Records. The 11-song collection will include the single "Sans Fear".

 

Owl City's Adam Young is back in the studio working on the follow-up to the debut album, "Ocean Eyes".

 

Stone Sour have set September 7 as the release date for their new album, "Audio Secrecy".

 

Rev Theory have announced that they are in the studio recording their next album and are eyeing a 2011 release.

 

Interpol has revealed their upcoming, fourth studio album will be self-titled and released in mid-September. The band has also announced that indie-Rock veteran David Pajo will replace bassist Carlos Dengler, who left Interpol following the completion of the new record.

 

Kid Rock's next album will be called "Born Free" and it is slated for a September 7 release. The disc features an array of well-known guest musicians, including Sheryl Crow and Bob Seger; the first single, also called "Born Free", will be released in late June.

 

Autolux will release their long-in-the-works sophomore album, "Transit Transit", on August 3 via TBD Records.

 

Black Label Society have selected "Parade Of The Dead" as the first single from their upcoming new album "Order Of The Black" due out August 10.

 

Sixx:A.M. will release their next album on October 12 via Eleven Seven Music, followed by a new book from Nikki Sixx.

 

Ill Niño upcoming new album will be titled "Around The Horizon". The New Jersey Latin-metallers' fifth studio effort is due in stores July 20, via Victory Records.

 

Crossfade have selected "Killing Me Inside" as the first single/video from its new 10-track full-length disc, "We All Bleed", due on Eleven Seven Music in July.

 

Helmet have delayed the release of their upcoming new album, "Seeing Eye Dog", from June 22 to August 24.

 

Hinder have titled their upcoming new album "The All American Nightmare", which they plan to release sometime later this year.

 

 

MAY

 

Following Noel Gallagher's departure from Oasis, his brother Liam Gallagher has renamed the group Beady Eye. Joining him are his ex-Oasis bandmates guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock. Keyboardist Jay Darlington and Jeff Wootton. The band are currently recording their first album.

 

Allele are planning an October release for their upcoming new record.

 

Rush will release their next album, "Clockwork Angels", sometime in 2011. The first single will be titled "Caravan".

 

Methods Of Mayhem have delayed the release of their upcoming new album, "A Public Disservice Announcement", from July 13 to September 21.

 

Paul Gray -- AKA #2 or “The Pig” --, bassist for Slipknot, has passed away at the age of 38. The Des Moines Register reports that Gray was found dead at a hotel in Urbandale, Iowa, at approximately 10:50 a.m. on Monday, May 24, by an employee at the TownePlace Suites.

 

Trapt announced that their next album will be out sometime early September.

 

Simple Plan announced that they are working with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo on their upcoming new album.

 

36 Crazyfists new album will be titled "Collisions And Castaways". The 11-song set drops in North America on July 27, via Ferret Music.

 

12 Stones have set July 13 as the release date for their fourth studio release, "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday".

 

Anberlin have selected "Impossible" as the first single off their upcoming album due out sometime in July or August.

 

Michael Franti signs to EMI/Capitol Records and will release his new album, "The Sound Of Sunshine", sometime this summer. Franti and his band Spearhead recently scored their first breakthrough hit with "Say Hey (I Love You)".

 

The legendary Heavy-Metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio, lead singer for the bands Rainbow and Black Sabbath, has passed away early Sunday, May 16, as a result of his ongoing battle with stomach cancer. He was 67.

 

Papa Roach have left Interscope Records and will release their upcoming live album, "Time For Annihilation" which will also feature five new studio recordings including the first single "Kick In The Teeth", via Eleven Seven Music.

 

Black Tide has begun work on their sophomore album; a release is expected later in the year.

 

American Hi-Fi have pushed back the release date of their upcoming new album, "Fight The Frequency", to August 17.

 

No Doubt is back in the studio recording their long-awaited comeback album. The band tweeted that they're in Hollywood to “start recording the first batch of new ND songs”. No Doubt have been writing new material since regrouping last year for a successful, summer-long tour.

 

Interpol has announced a short East Coast tour as the band gears up to release their fourth album later this year.

 

Crowded House will deliver a new album, "Intriguer", on July 13 via Fantasy Records, a division of Concord Music Group.

 

TRUST company have begun recording their third album, the band is eying a tentative September release date.

Sublime's new vocalist, Rome Ramirez, announced in a recent interview that the band plan to hit the studio early next year to record a new album.

 

Randy Bachman and Fred Turner of Bachman Turner Overdrive will release their first studio album together in over two decades. The as-yet-untitled new record is scheduled to hit stores on September 7 via E1 Music.

 

Black Label Society have set August 10 as the release date for their new record; the disc will be called "Order Of The Black".

 

Apocalyptica's new album, "7th Symphony" will feature guest appearances from Shinedown's Brent Smith and Flyleaf's Lacey Sturm. Gavin Rossdale is featured on the album's first single, "End Of Me". "7th Symphony" is due in stores on August 23.

 

Joe Satriani announced that he will hit the studio sometime next month to begin recording his next solo album.

 

Avenged Sevenfold have selected "Nightmare" as the lead single from their upcoming new album due out July 27.

 

 

APRIL

 

The Used have canceled their upcoming international tour to begin work on their next album.

 

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has revealed he is working on a solo record titled "Flamingo". On the band's official website, a neon sign with Flowers' last name now appears on front of the site, replacing The Killers' logo.

 

On Tuesday April 27 a mysterious new band with the moniker How To Destroy Angels was announced by music PR firm Nasty Little Man. Speculation immediately began that the band is actually the first new project from Trent Reznor, since he put Nine Inch Nails to rest as a live band last year. The project features Reznor's wife Mariqueen Maandig.

 

Trapt announced that they finished up recording their next album last month and are planning for a release sometime later this year.

Crossfade have inked a deal with Eleven Seven Records for the release of their upcoming new album which they have just finished work on. A release is expected later this year.

 

Death Cab For Cutie have been working on the follow-up to 2008's "Narrow Stairs", the band are looking for a spring 2011 release.

 

Disturbed are in the studio putting the finishing touches on its new album entitled "Asylum". The disc will be released by Reprise Records in late summer.

 

Norma Jean have set July 13 as the release date for their fifth album, "Meridional".

 

Ben Folds has completed his next album, which is planned for a September release.

Tool has begun writing new material for their first album since 2006's "10,000 Days".

 

Korn have set July 18 as the release date for their new album, tentatively titled "Korn III - Remember Who You Are". The first single, "Oildale", is set to be released on May 18.

 

Ours frontman Jimmy Gnecco, will release his first solo album, "The Heart", on July 20 via Bright Antenna through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group.

 

Type O Negative singer Peter Steele passed away on April 14 at the age of 48. His cause of death has been reported of heart failure.

 

Scissor Sisters will release their third album, "Night Work", on June 29.

 

Supergrass has announced they are splitting up after 17 years together. The band, best known for singles such as "Alright" and "Pumping On Your Stereo", will play four farewell shows in Europe in June.

Malcolm McLaren, the iconoclast former manager of The Sex Pistols, has died from cancer on April 8 in Switzerland. After the Pistols famously imploded, McLaren began a new career as a musician, releasing the 1983 album "Duck Rock" which included the hit single "Buffalo Gals". He was 64.

 

Powderfinger have announced they are breaking up after over two decades together. The band will play one last tour in 2010, with the Sunsets trek taking place across Australia in September and October.

 

Everclear have announced that they will release a new album sometime this fall.

 

Hellyeah is putting the finishing touches on its sophomore album, "Stampede", due on July 13 via Epic Records.

 

Kings Of Leon have begun working on the follow-up to their breakthrough smash "Only By The Night".

 

Korn have chosen "Oildale" as the first single from their upcoming new album tentatively titled "Korn III - Remember Who You Are".

 

Dangerous New Machine will release their debut album, "Set The World On Fire", on May 25.

Taking Back Sunday have shuffled their lineup, with official blog posts announcing that guitarist Matt Fazzi and bassist Matt Rubano had left the group. However, a new photo has appeared on the band's website with original members John Nolan and Shaun Cooper shown in the line-up. The pair left in 2003 to form Straylight Run.

 

Alter Bridge have completed the recording of their third studio album; mixing is set to begin in mid-April with a release planned for September.

The Knack frontman Doug Fieger has passed away at the age of 57 after a long battle with cancer. Fieger formed The Knack in Los Angeles in 1978 and they became Power Pop favorites with their Billboard Hot 100 #1 and worldwide smash "My Sharona".
