Bastille Biography

The Alternative contemporary Synth-Pop outfit Bastille was formed in 2010, in London, ENGLAND, starting out as a solo project by singer + songwriter Dan Smith. He named the band after the July 14 French Revolution holiday with which he also shares a birthday. Smith, who wrote most of the material on a laptop in his bedroom, later decided to create a band with the help of his friends keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris 'Woody' Wood.

In March 2013 was released Bastille's first full-length disc, "Bad Blood", on EMI Music; it peaked at #1 on the U.K. Albums chart while the main single "Pompeii" hit the top 10 in Britain and several other European countries before entering the U.S. Alternative top 40 chart.
