Dashboard Confessional Biography

The Boca Raton, Florida USA-based Alternative-Rock act Dashboard Confessional began its existence as a one-man band in 2000 by singer+guitarist & songwriter Christopher Carrabba.

That fall, he released the first album, the spartan "The Swiss Army Romance", as a solo artist.
An EP entitled "The Drowning" was issed in early 2001 and was followed by the second Dashboard Confessional album and the first for Vagrant, "The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most"; it quickly rose to the top 5 of the Billboard Magazine's Independent chart and nearly a year later cracked The Billboard 200 chart on the back of the single "Screaming Infidelities", which reached the #22 position on The Modern Rock chart.
By late 2002, after the release of two more EPs, Carrabba recorded an episode of "MTV Unplugged"; the set shot to #1 on The Billboard Top Independent Albums list; a tour with Weezer followed.
In mid-2003, the singer teamed up with guitarist John Lefler, bass player Scott Shoenbeck and drummer Mike Marsh; the group released Dashboard Confessional's breakthrough LP, "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar", the record peaked at #2 on The Billboard Top 200 chart spawning two Modern Rock top 40 single tracks, "Rapid Hope Loss" and "Hands Down" the latter of which hit the #8 slot.
A year later "Vindicated", recorded for the soundtrack of "Spider-Man 2", smashed into The Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at #2.
The Florida outfit returned in June 2006 with "Dusk And Summer", it was another top 3 success on The Billboard 200 Albums chart and yielded the Hot Modern Rock top 20 hit "Don't Wait" as well as a Billboard's Hot 100 top 50 follow-up with "Stolen".

"The Shade Of Poison Trees", Carrabba's fifth studio LP overall was released in October 2007; the disc, an entirely acoustic opus a la 2000's acclaimed debut "The Swiss Army Romance" and 2001's hit album "The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most", peaked at #18 on The Billboard 200. It included the single "Thick As Thieves".

Two years later followed "Alter The Ending", a new U.S. top 20 hit album which contained the single "Belle Of The Boulevard".
