Five Finger Death Punch Biography
Five Finger Death Punch formed in 2005 with a sound that perfectly fuses old school Thrash-Metal with modern ferocity along with their melodic sensibility; the band came together in Los Angeles, California USA, comprised of vocalist Ivan Moody, ex-U.P.O. guitarist Zoltan Bathory, second guitarist Darrell Roberts, bassist Matt Snell and drummer Jeremy Spencer.
Their Firm Music debut, "The Way Of The Fist", was released
in July 2007 reaching the #107 position on The Billboard 200; the 10-song
set included the Hot Mainstream Rock top 10 hit "The Bleeding".
"The Way Of The Fist" was re-released in May of the following year with three bonus tracks on the album; "Never Enough", not previously on the record, was another Hot Mainstream Rock top 10 smash for the band and the third single, "Stranger Than Fiction", peaked at #16 on the same chart.
After a slight line-up change, new guitarist Jason Hook replaced Roberts,
in September 2009 the quintet issued their sophomore effort, "War
Is The Answer". The disc crested at #7 on The Billboard Top 200 listing
and spawned no less than four Active Rock top 10 hit singles: "Hard
To See", "Walk Away", "Far From Home" and "Bad
Company", the latter of which -- the cover of Bad
Company's song "Bad Company" -- fell one place short of
In early 2011 the group recruited Chris Kael as the band's new bassist following the departure of Matt Snell.
Five Finger Death Punch made their return to the music scene with "American Capitalist". Released in October 2011, the band's third studio album continued the formula which the quintet had established on their previous efforts, the disc shot to #3 on The Billboard 200 on the back of three Active Rock top 3 smashes, "Under And Over It", "Remember Everything" and "Coming Down", the latter of which hit the #1 spot. The final single, "The Pride", nearly reached the top 10 of the same chart over a year after the album's release.
In advance of the release of the group's next offering, they released the single, "Lift Me Up", the track features a guest appearance from Judas Priest singer Rob Halford. 5FDP fourth studio effort was a double album that the band released in two installments, the first volume, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 1", arrived in July 2013 and the second half, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 2", followed in November.
