Foster The People Biography
The Alternative-Rock outfit Foster The People was formed in October 2009 in Los Angeles, California USA, fronted by lead singer + guitarist & keyboardist Mark Foster along with bassist Cubbie Fink, MPC player Zach 'Reazon' Heiligman and drummer Mark Pontius.
The group's first single, "Pumped Up Kicks", introduced their clean and fresh sound and was included on Foster The People's eponymous 3-track debut EP. It became an astonishing success peaking at #1 on The Alternative Songs chart and inched into the top 3 of both The Billboard Hot 100 and Rock Songs charts. Released in May 2011, the subsequent full-length disc, "Torches", delivered on both the promise of their breakthrough single and the promise of a young band, debuted at #8 on The Billboard 200 and at #7 on the Top Canadian Albums chart. It also did exceptionally well overseas where it entered the U.K. top 20 and opened atop the Australian chart. The second single, "Helena Beat", rose to #9 on the U.S. Alternative Songs list and was followed by another hit, "Don't Stop (Color On The Walls)", which crested at the #5 position on the same chart.
Recorded during 2012 in Morocco, Los Angeles and London, "Supermodel", the highly anticipated second album from Foster The People arrived in March 2014. An immediate top 3 hit in U.S. and Canada, it was prefaced by the single "Coming Of Age" which peaked at #4 on The Alternative Songs chart.
