Electronic alt-Rock artist Lorde was born Ella Yelich-O'Connor on November 7, 1996 in Auckland, NEW ZEALAND.
In March 2013, at the age of only 16, Lorde released her debut EP, "The Love Club", which peaked at #1 on the Official New Zealand Albums chart. The 5-song set included the smash single "Royals" which also hit #1 on the U.S. Alternative Songs chart.
Her first full-length disc, "Pure Heroine", was released in September 2013 and demonstrated that she has a timeless knack for songcraft with a sophisticated Pop savvy. The album contained 10 tracks, including "Royals" and a new American Alternative top 5 hit single titled "Team". "Pure Heroine" went on to chart inside the top 5 in almost all territories, selling over one million copies in U.S. alone.
Lorde was nominated for four awards at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards; she took home wins for Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, for her breakout single "Royals".
