Neon Trees Biography
The Alternative-Rock Pop-Rock act Neon Trees was founded by vocalist
+ keyboardist Tyler Glenn and guitarist Chris Allen. They have known each
other since grade school, when they turned 17 they began writing music
together but Allen's aspirations to be a masseuse lead him to a massage
school in Utah. In 2003, the duo split up.
Two years later, Glenn made a radical decision. He packed up and moved to Provo, Utah USA, with his co-songwriter to continue making music. After trying out different musicians, they finally completed the band with the addition of bassist Branden Campbell and drummer Elaine Doty.
In the summer of 2008 the quartet released an EP titled "Drop Your Weapon" and enjoyed a fair degree of local success. On the other end of the line were world-renowned rockers, The Killers, calling to offer Glenn and his cohorts the opening slot on their North American tour.
In March 2010 Neon Trees were ready to light up the charts with the release of "Habits", their Mercury Records debut. The full-length disc reached #113 on The Billboard 200 spawning an amazing Hot Modern Rock #1 hit single, "Animal", which also hit #13 on The Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. top 40. The follow-up single, "1983", peaked at #13 on The Alternative Songs list and the third single, "Your Surrender", reached #27 on the same chart.
April 2012 saw the Utah-based alt-Rock band unleash its sophomore album, "Picture Show"; it quickly ascended into the top 20 of The Billboard 200 and the main single, "Everybody Talks", catapulted into the top 10 on both The Billboard Hot 100 and The Alternative Songs charts. That fall another single, "Lessons in Love (All Day, All Night)", held the #26 spot on The Rock Songs list.
Neon Trees will release their third studio album, "Pop Psychology", on April 22, 2014. It contains the single "Sleeping With A Friend".
