Phantom Planet Biography

The Los Angeles, California USA-based Pop-Rock band Phantom Planet, started out as a five-piece act in the mid-'90s, comprising lead singer+guitarist Alex Greenwald, guitarists Darren Robinson and Jacques Brauther, bass player Sam Farrar and drummer Jason Schwartzman.

In the summer of 1998, the group released the debut album, "Phantom Planet Is Missing" on Geffen Records.
After three full years the quintet switched to Epic Records who released "The Guest", the album came out in February 2002 and became their first Billboard Top 200 chart entry at #133, it included the Modern Rock top 40 single "California" which was featured on the soundtrack to the Jack Black film "Orange County".
Schwartzman left Phantom Planet in the summer of 2003, Jeff Conrad stepped in to fill his shoes; by the fall of the year the band issued the single "Big Brat" which debuted at #20 on The Modern Rock chart and preceded their self-titled album; the set arrived in January of 2004 and broke the top 100 of The Billboard 200 list.

The band supported its releases by touring with Elvis Costello, Travis, Pete Yorn, The Vines and many more.
